ICIMOD launches Water and Life photo competition

The International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) is organizing a digital photo contest on the theme of 'Water and Life' to celebrate its 30th anniversary, coinciding with the United Nations International Year of Water Cooperation 2013.

The aim of the contest is to increase attention to the importance of water and challenges of water-related issues in the Hindu Kush Himalayan region.

Entries must depict water, related resources, or issues linked to the Hindu Kush Himalayan portion of ICIMOD’s regional member countries (Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, India, Myanmar, Nepal, and Pakistan). There are three categories for entries: uses and benefits of water and related resources; hazards, conflicts, or issues related to water (or lack thereof); and Good practices in water and related risk management.

The deadline for submission is 20 May 2013, and entrants must be over 18.

Public voting will take place on ICIMOD’s Facebook page, with cash prizes for the three winning photos.
