Alfred the Yeti explains mountain climate change

05.08.2013

The Ev-K2-CNR Committee has recruited a yeti to help explain climate change in mountains to a wide audience.

So far six video episodes have been released on YouTube showing Alfred the Yeti coming to terms with climate change, and a further two episodes will be released before October.

In each episode the abominable snowman is faced with an aspect of climate change disrupting his daily life, from glacier melting and black carbon to landslides.

Each video is linked to two further short clips in which experts explain the issue in greater depth (in Italian with English subtitles).

Alfred’s Adventures have been launched in the run-up to the High Summit 2013 International Conference on Mountains and Climate Change which will take place in Lecco, Italy, 23-25 October.

Organized by the Ev-K2-CNR Committee, the conference aims to present current knowledge on mountain ecosystems from scientific and socio-economic points of view. A document summarizing the main outcomes of the meeting will be presented at the next United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Conference of Parties (COP19) in Warsaw.
