Abstracts invited for mountain observatories event

25.03.2014

The Mountain Research Initiative (MRI) and the University of Reno have extended the deadline for abstracts till 11 April 2014 for the Global Fair and Workshop on Long-Term Observatories of Mountain Social-Ecological Systems. “The Fair and Workshop is the place to be for all who gather data on mountain social, biological and abiotic systems,” said MRI Director Gregory Greenwood.

It will also be an opportunity to visit state-of-the-art observing sites in the Lake Tahoe region of the Sierra Nevada on the border of California and Nevada, he added. This global event is a step toward more comprehensive observing systems for the world‘s mountain regions by building up from the grass-roots of existing observing systems.

Submit an abstract if you would like to present your observatory in the Exposition, discuss data management or other topics in an Atelier and  present your work and results in a Session.

Three types are currently being accepted:

  • Presentations: 40 Sessions have been approved.
  • Ateliers: Propose a roundtable discussion with your colleagues about a particular monitoring problem or possibility. Proposed Ateliers.
  • Expositions: Show others what you do through a poster or other exhibit of your mountain monitoring program. More information.
