A walk through Lebanon’s mountains

15.05.2014

The Lebanon Mountain Trail Association (LMT) completed its six annual, month-long thru-walk on 4 May 2014. The long-distance walk (470 km) started in Marjaayoun, in south Lebanon, and headed north to Andqet in north Lebanon, bringing together 220 hikers from more than a dozen countries including Armenia, England, France, Germany, Holland, Korea, Lebanon, Switzerland and the United States.

The group stayed in local guesthouses, monasteries, hotels and campsites along the Lebanon Mountain Trail, where they enjoyed delicious, local-made meals, organizers said. Each day they did five to seven of walking, covering 17 to 25 km. In total, they injected more than USD 31 000 into trailside local economies while engaging in environmentally- and socially-responsible tourism, according to the Association’s objectives.

The event is held every year in April for the full trek and in the fall season for around ten days.

LMT invites Mountain Partnership members and friends to join their Facebook page.
