Himalayan environment magazine launched

11.07.2014

The Society for Conserving Planet and Life (COPAL), an NGO based in India, launched Eco Whisper, an environmental magazine, on World Environment Day (5 June 2014) to spur responsible thinking and understanding about the environment. The 40-page publication, ‘a whispering voice of those who think, love, act and live with the environment in their soul, mind and heart’, is currently biannual and aimed at a general audience, regardless of their level of knowledge of science.

Writers, environmental enthusiasts and conservation practitioners contributed articles voluntarily from various parts of the world for this first issue and COPAL wishes to continue this cooperation as it enhances the quality and beauty of our magazine, the publishers explained. Though many articles are about the Indian Himalayan Region,
the magazine also features articles and stories about the arid areas of India, protected areas of Africa and more.

The magazine has been developed and produced without any funding support thus far but future support is invited so that it can become quarterly and its quality can be further improved.

COPAL welcomes feedback and comments from readers as it will motivate the editorial team in producing its forthcoming issues. See the magazine

The India-based organization also has a blog that highlights the rural landscapes of the Indian Himalayan Region.
