Grants for conservation projects in mountains

17.04.2015

The European Outdoor Conservation Association (EOCA) invites applications from organizations for grants up to 30 000 euros to support conservation projects that protect threatened species or habitat in any country except those in North America.

Conservation projects should aim to protect, enhance or restore a threatened species, habitat or ecosystem including mountain ecosystems by using innovative solutions to problems while creating strong linkages with users to encourage responsible and sustainable use of wildlife resources. Projects should enhance the visitor’s experience by ensuring protective mechanisms such as trails, rock faces,  waterways, education campaigns to prevent disturbing a vulnerable species or damaging a habitat.

Grant applications should include easily identifiable and measureable outcomes on how the project will address the issue. Projects should clearly explain how conservation measures will tackle the issue as well as address the root causes. In order to ensure sustainability, projects should enable local communities to take ownership and contribute to their livelihoods. Education and communication activities of the project should target local communities and visitors on ways to observe or interact with wildlife.

Grant winners will be selected by vote by EOCA members and the public. The application process for the next funding round will run from 1 - 31 July 2015.
