Access resources through the MP database

12.08.2016

If your organization is looking for resources to fund a programme or project on sustainable mountain development, follow these tips to navigate the Mountain Partnership’s (MP) online funding database. The Mountain Partnership Secretariat (MPS) recognizes that it is crucial to identify suitable financial resources to support activities. The MP database provides easy access to up-to-date information, and you can search by priority area, region or keyword:

Priority area: define your search within this list of 39 areas, including agriculture, anthropology, biodiversity, endangered species, nutrition, sustainability and water;
Region: select the region for which you are seeking resources, including Asia, Africa, America and Europe;
Keyword: find resources by entering specific keywords into the online database.

Some 250 funding sources offered by philanthropic organizations, foundations, NGOs and others are added to the online database regularly by the MPS to keep it up-to-date. Here are some of the most recent entries:
• Alwaleed Philanthropies Global
• Common Fund for Commodities
• Fondation Ensemble
• Global Biodiversity Information Facility: Biodiversity Information for Development
• United States Agency for International Development
• World Wildlife Fund

The online funding database was launched in 2015 by the MPS to assist MP members and their network of friends in their resource mobilization efforts. The easy-to-use online tool helps identify resource partners and different funding sources to support projects at the global, regional and local level.

Although the MPS does not fund directly the activities of members, the MPS provides members with information about the availability of funds for mountain activities on an on-going basis. Furthermore, the MPS facilitates resource mobilization requests or proposals, establishing contact between countries and institutions and creating conditions for partnerships.
MP members share a vision: a world in which sustainable mountain development receives greater public and private sector attention, commitment, engagement and investment.
