Mountains 2016 international film competition

The Mountain Research Centre (CIMO), the School of Agriculture (ESA) of the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança (IPB), the Portuguese Society of Ecology (SPECO) and the European Association of Mountain Areas (Euromontana) present the Mountains 2016 International Film Competition. This competition is a Mountains 2016 event and is part of the SPECO 20 year’s celebration: 20 years, 20 regions, 20 initiatives. Mountains 2016 is an international event promoting sustainable development in mountain areas based on science, knowledge and innovation.

The competition intends to publicly recognize and disseminate movies addressing mountain themes, including ecosystems, culture, products and new ways of promoting sustainable development in these systems.

Categories
In this edition there will be no distinction of film categories. Films can be dedicated at any mountain-related subject, including biodiversity, sports, ethnography, architecture, food, among many others.

Authorship
Authors of all movies must be amateur. Movies from any country in the world will be admitted to the competition. No fees apply for the submission of films.

Formats
All film formats will be admitted to the competition. Film duration, however, must be less than 30 minutes.

Language
Films can be of any geographic origin and language. In the case that a movie is not originally in Portugese, English or French, subtitling in one of these languages should be provided.

Awards
Winner: Registration at Mountains 2016, stay for 2 people in Bragança
Runner-up: Registration at Mountains 2016, stay for 2 people in Bragança

Dissemination
Awarded movies will be exhibited during Mountains 2016. Awarded and non-awarded movies can be exhibited in future events organized by CIMO/ESA/IPB.

Jury
Comprised of a member of CIMO, a member of ESA/IPB, a member of “Museu de Arte Contemporânea Graça Morais”, a member of SPECO and a member of Euromontana.

Film submission
Films must be submitted to [email protected] by 16 September 2016 though a large file transfer service (Signiant, WeTransfer, etc.).

Schedule
16 September 2016: Deadline for film submission
October 2016: Film evaluation by the jury
3-7 October (Mountains 2016): Announcement and dissemination of awarded movies
