Fourth IDSAsr Seminar: The Water Energy and Food Security

The fourth seminar of Guru Arjan Dev Institute of Development Studies Society (IDSAsr), will be held from 2 to 4 November 2012, at Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, India. Recognizing a clear need for new approaches addressing the inter-connections within the water, energy and food security nexus, the seminar will focus on identifying enabling conditions which may facilitate the achievement of the first Millennium Development Goal (MDG): to end poverty and hunger. Sustainable and equitable management of water resources, agricultural productivity increase, and the preservation of ecosystems and biodiversity will be the main topics. The seminar will also provide for a space for discussion, interaction, and information to policy-makers, water managers, academics, and the public in general.
