Joto Afrika 5: Implications of climate change for health in Africa

26.01.2011

Issue 5 of “Joto Afrika” features articles from different countries which highlight the impacts of climate change on health across Africa. Climate change affect human health both directly, by encouraging the production of disease vectors and parasites such as those causing malaria, than indirectly (impacts on water availability, air quality, food quality and quantity, ecosystems, agriculture and economies). Joto Afrika is a bilingual series of printed briefings and online resources (English and French) intended to inform on the issues, constrains and opportunities that poor people face in adapting to climate change and escaping poverty in sub- Saharan Africa. Issue 5 of “Joto Afrika” is available on the website for free download.
