Altai Republic in Mountain Partnership

The Government of Altai Republic confirmed its interest in further development of its activities in SMD, in cooperation with Mountain Partnership Secretariat at FAO.

Mr. Aleksander Alchubaev, the minister of economic  development and investments of Altai Republic, was appointed as a focal point of the Mountain Partnership in Altai.  The local NGO ‘Fund for Altai sustainable development’ was recommended for membership in Mountain Partnership and its application was successfully approved by the Mountain Partnership Secretariat.

Altai  Republic is one of the leading mountain regions in Russian Federation, striving to make considerable steps forward, in order to attract the attention of the federal officials and of the world's community to the issues, related to the sustainable development of mountain regions in Russia.

To the moment, Altai Republic is the only mountain region of Russia, which has joined the Mountain Partnership on behalf of the Russian Federation.

The official press release of the Ministry of economic development and investments of Altai Republic notes that the mutual cooperation will help to find effective tools for sustainable development of mountain regions in Russia.
