President of Peru Ollanta Humala officially opens the Mountain Pavilion

Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) The Mountain Pavilion was officially opened by President of Peru Ollanta Humala on 20 June 2012. "Mountains have a common denominator, and that is sustainable development" President Humala said as he introduced the global spirit of the Mountain Pavilion. 

The innovative Pavilion initiative was initiated by Peru as leading organizer. 35 associates contributed to transforming it into a success. With daily events such as panel discussions, high-level meetings, thematic exhibitions and the Third Global Meeting of the Mountain Partnership, the Pavilion attracted some 2,000 visitors on a daily basis.

 

 

The day of the official opening, the Mountain Pavilion turned into a colourful and lively space, animated by the dances of a youth group advocating for sustainability in defense of the Amazon.
