City of Aspen proclaims 26 September 2022 “Week of the Mountain Partnership”

Torre, the Mayor of the City of Aspen, declared the week of 26 September 2022 as the "Week of the Mountain Partnership" in an official proclamation made during the Sixth Global Meeting of the Mountain Partnership. The proclamation recalls that the City of Aspen was the first United States governmental entity to be inducted into the Mountain Partnership, the United Nations alliance dedicated to mountain people and environments.

The proclamation notes that the City of Aspen, together with the State of Colorado, the Aspen Institute and the Aspen International Mountain Foundation, co-hosted the Sixth Global Meeting of the Mountain Partnership in Aspen, United States of America on 27-29 September 2022. It furthermore recognizes that the United Nations General Assembly officially declared 2022 as the International Year of Sustainable Mountain Development and that the Global Meeting was the main event of this Year.

By hosting the Global Meeting and making this official proclamation, the City of Aspen together with the other co-hosts of the Global Meeting hope these actions will provide further incentive for cooperation in promoting sustainable mountain development in North America.
