Submit your abstracts for mountain conference

15.01.2015

Mountain researchers and practitioners have until 27 February 2015 to submit abstracts for Perth III: Mountains of Our Future Earth, an international conference that will take place in Perth, Scotland on 4-8 October 2015. The conference will include research presentation sessions, round table discussions, and poster sessions on global change research in mountain regions.

Building on two previous international conferences held in 2005 and 2010, Perth III: Mountains of Our Future Earth aims to present, evaluate and synthesize knowledge on global change in mountains as well as to refine agendas on collaborative research and to foster effective interdisciplinary and international research on mountain ecosystems.

Open to researchers and practitioners from around the world, the conference seeks to strengthen ongoing research activities and to foster new collaboration. It will also contribute to the global Future Earth programme, a ten-year international research initiative that will develop the knowledge for responding effectively to the risks and opportunities of global environmental change and supporting transformation towards global sustainability.  The conference will be structured around the three research themes of Future Earth: dynamic planet, global sustainable development, and transformations towards sustainability

Potential participants from developing countries may request funding to attend the conference when submitting abstracts. Financial support for this purpose is being provided by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation; the Mountain Research Initiative; the Global Mountain Biodiversity Assessment; and IUCN’s Commission on Ecosystem Management.
