23.02.2015

Along with the Italian Development Cooperation and the Italian Cultural Institute in Addis Ababa, Mountain Wilderness Italy will lead a basic course on the management of trekking from 26 February to 8 March.

This training is aimed at local youth interested in acquiring the basic technical skills needed to become reliable guides for sports and historical / archaeological excursions. It takes places in the mountains of Tigray.

Mountain Wilderness has solid and proven experience in mountaineering and hiking training, with a primary interest in eco-friendly activities. Specifically, Mountain Wilderness has managed with great success "Environment Friendly Mountaineering" courses in Afghanistan, India and Pakistan. For the first time this experience is at the service of a project in Africa, with a view to encourage a number of tourists not only numerically significant, but also more respectful of environmental integrity and more informed about local cultures.

Nineteen students of which two are women are taking the course. The instructors, all from Italy, are: Giorgio Mallucci,  Renato Moro and Elisabetta Galli.
