14.05.2015

The Regional consultative meeting of the Major Groups and Stakeholders in Latin America and  the Caribbean 2015 of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) was held on 7 May 2015 in Panama City, Panama, where participated Fundación CoMunidad was one of the non-governmental organization (NGO) participants.

The objectives of the regional meeting were to prepare the contributions of representatives of major groups and stakeholders in the region to global processes such as discussion of the Post-2015 development agenda and climate change; to identify opportunities to enhance the participation of major groups and stakeholders in policy-making processes at different levels; and to foster dialogue and knowledge sharing between major groups and stakeholders in the region.

The input of Fundación CoMunidad for the conclusions of the meeting was a call to recognize mountains in climate change negotiations and the conservation of these ecosystems to ensure the provision of their environment services, such as mountains provide 60-80 percent of the world’s  fresh water for domestic consumption, irrigation, sanitation and energy production.
