Call for mountain product case studies

Your case studies are invited for the posters and factsheets currently being created by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the Mountain Partnership Secretariat (MPS) for International Mountain Day (IMD), which will take place on 11 December. The theme for IMD 2015 is “Promoting mountain products”, providing an occasion to highlight how mountain communities by producing a large variety of products and providing goods and services.

The MPS seeks interesting case studies on how mountain communities are producing and marketing their high quality mountain products and services, such as coffee, cocoa, honey, herbs, spices handicrafts, tourism at the national, regional and international levels. The deadline to receive case studies is 10 August 2015.

The fact sheets and other communication materials will be made available on FAO’s IMD website in Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish (the six official United Nations languages).

IMD is the official UN day for mountains, and has been celebrated every year since its establishment in 2002 during the International Year of Mountains. It is an occasion to mark the importance of mountains for life, to highlight the opportunities and constraints to mountain development and to build alliances that will bring positive change to mountain peoples and environments around the world.
