MPS video message to Interski Congress 2015

09.09.2015

“Mountain regions attract about 20 percent of global tourism, but we need to remember that many mountain peoples live in extreme poverty and are affected by natural disasters” said Thomas Hofer, Mountain Partnership Coordinator in a video message to the 2015 Interski Congress which is currently being held in Cerro Castor in Ushuaia, Argentina.

Interski Congress is the biggest event in the world which seeks to promote exchange of ski methodologies and techniques among its members. The week-long congress which opened on 5 September 2015 in Argentina, held for the first time in southern hemisphere, seeks to gather representatives of the national associations and others who are interested in mountain tourism.

The congress features seminars and workshops on the techniques and methodologies as well as presentations of ski resorts by each nation. Founded in Austria in 1951, the Interski Congress has currently expanded into 36 countries connecting organizations and people for the promotion and exchange of technical knowledge related to ski.
