What they do
The Compton Foundation fosters positive and sustainable models of change. It is a family foundation based in the United States and working with a global perspective. Their new mission highlights a sense of urgency and a willingness to take risks in order to transform the way we live. Bringing forth a positive future requires innovative ways of understanding and naming the problems people face, as well as new methods for collaborating to solve them. To accomplish the foundation’s mission they provide financial resources to galvanize the movement for progressive and democratic social change, and their 2013 grantmaking totaled $3.3 million.

Eligibility
The foundation will only support 501(c)(3) organizations based in the United States. It will not fund service delivery programs, K-12 education, on-the-ground restoration projects, or land, water, or easement acquisition. For environmental issues, it will fund only domestic activities. The foundation will not fund ocean or marine work.
