What they do
The Brazilian Biodiversity Fund (Funbio) is a registered non-profit civil association. Funbio has been a strategic partner for the private sector, different state and federal authorities, and organized civil society. Thanks to these partnerships, it has been possible for the companies involved to make social investments, and reduce and mitigate their impacts, while also fulfilling their legal obligations. In the public sphere, they serve to consolidate conservation policies and enable environmental funding programs. Funbio provides field-research support to master’s degree and PhD students in the form of grants worth R$20 thousand and R$38 thousand, respectively. The grants are awarded to projects addressing any of the following themes: 1) Conservation, sustainable management and use of fauna and flora; 2) Landscape and degraded-area recovery; 3) Territorial management for biodiversity protection; 4) Climate change and biodiversity conservation.
