Opening of new UN Office in Myanmar’s Capital - Nay Pyi Taw

On 11th July 2018, Mr Haoliang Xu, Assistant Secretary General of the United Nations and Director of the Regional Bureau for Asia and Pacific at UNDP officially inaugurated the new UN office in Myanmar’s Capital Nay Pyi Taw in the presence of H.E. U Soe Win, Union Minister, the Ministry of Planning and Finance, H.E. U Kyaw Tin, Union Minister, the Ministry of International Cooperation, senior government officials, development partners and UN agencies.

The new UN office is located in Oattara Thiri Township in Nay Pyi Taw. It houses 12 of 17 UN agencies present in Myanmar: United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), World Food Programme (WFP), Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR), United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA), Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS), United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UNHABITAT), and the United Nations Resident Coordinator Office.

Ms Xiaojie Fan, FAO Representative in Myanmar together with the FAO Myanmar Staff based in Nay Pyi Taw participated in the opening ceremony.
