15 October 2018 – A delegation from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has met with Bahrain’s Deputy Prime Minister Khalid Bin Abdallah to assess the country’s agricultural and fisheries industries and determine best practices for development.

The Prime Minister highlighted FAO’s efforts to achieve zero hunger and sustainable development in the food industry in the country and worldwide.

The FAO delegation stressed the Organization’s keenness on cooperating with Bahrain on achieving its priority goals. These include strategic planning, implementing policies and empowering the agricultural and food industries.

Bahrain has provided significant attention to supporting and empowering the agricultural and food industries, which in turn, encourage investments in these two industries. As a result, both industries will be strengthened and will help the country to inch closer to achieving zero hunger.

The visit came on the sidelines of FAO’s participation in a workshop with government officials to discuss cooperation opportunities on statistics and food security indicators, strengthening livestock and fisheries industries as well as developing the food security strategy for Bahrain.
