18 October 2018, Cairo, Egypt – Staff of the Regional Office for the Near East and North Africa (NENA) and the Egypt office of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) reaffirmed their pledge to Zero Hunger today as they celebrated World Food Day.

During the celebrations, Abdessalam Ould Ahmed, Assistant Director-General and Regional Representative for Near East and North Africa, highlighted the importance of the international day and the role of each member in the Organization in reaching Zero Hunger by 2030.

“The regional and Egypt office staff are all advocates of Zero Hunger and we work together within the organization and with our partners to reach all the sustainable development goals,” said Ould Ahmed.

As a display of the FAO family’s dedication to eradicating hunger, staff members shared how they work for zero hunger in their daily lives. While some bought local produce to support small-scale farmers, others avoided food waste in their homes and offices.
