For the first time, aquaculture has surpassed capture fisheries in the production of aquatic animals, according to the 2024 edition of the State of World Fisheries and Aquaculture (SOFIA) report.
Manuel Barange, Assistant Director-General and Director of the Fisheries and Aquaculture Division at FAO, discussed the latest findings and trends in the aquatic sector and its role for food security and nutrition.
