39th Session of the Committee on World Food Security FAO steps up
Rome, 15 October 2012- The 39th Session of the Committee on World Food Security (CFS) started today at FAO headquarters; an opportunity for FAO to renew its commitment to reduce the number of hungry people. Today, 870 million people are still hungry, especially in Africa and the Near East, and governments attending CFS are urged to promote responsible agricultural investments that respect rights, livelihoods and resources.
