28 January 2013 - FAO succeeds UN DESA as Chair of the Committee for the Promotion and Advancement of Cooperatives (COPAC) for two years (2013-2014). This will be a critical role for FAO to play particularly in the context of the implementation of the post-International Year of Cooperatives (IYC) 2012 since the Global Plan of Action will also be adopted by the UN General Assembly in October 2013.
