High-Level Event for the launch of the Global Report on Food Crises 2022

Hybrid Event, 04/05/2022

Mon, May 4 at 8:30 AM EST | Register

The overall objective of the event is to launch the 2022 edition of the Global Report on Food Crises and to promote solution-oriented discussions on the implications and challenges in addressing food crises, contributing to the achievement of SDG 2.

The high-level event will be an opportunity to assess the preliminary impact of the spill-over effects of the crisis in Ukraine on food crises and fragile food systems. Moreover, the event contributes to the debate initiated by the UN Food Systems Summit in 2021 and provides an opportunity to solicit global thinking on the action needed to stem and turn the tide on the rising number of acute food insecure populations and the rebuilding of broken food systems.

The event will also seek to foster the necessary political commitment to prevent famine and eradicate food crises and draw political, strategic and operational conclusions. These will be captured in a High-Level Communique that will set the stage for the efforts of the Global Network Against Food Crisis and the Humanitarian Development Peace Coalition of the Food System Summit.
