Saving Lives and Improving Livelihoods: Women and Agriculture in Afghanist

Hybrid Event, 11/05/2022

11 May 2022 from 9-10:30 AM EST | Register

Afghanistan is facing one of the world's worst humanitarian crises. 22.8 million - one in two - people in Afghanistan face acute food insecurity. Approximately 80 percent of Afghans are farmers and herders who reside in rural areas and depend on agriculture for their livelihoods. Women, who play a vital role in tending to livestock or backyard food production, are most at risk of hunger. At a point when their work is most critical, women and girls are facing unprecedented challenges.

Join the Alliance to End Hunger, the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations (FAO), and a panel of food, nutrition, and agriculture experts to learn about the ever-changing food insecurity situation in Afghanistan and the lifesaving agricultural and nutrition interventions that are urgently needed.
