About World Food Day

Each year, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) celebrates World Food Day on 16 October to promote global awareness and action for those who suffer from chronic hunger and for the need to ensure food security and good nutrition for all. It also commemorates the founding of the Organization in 1945. World Food Day is an opportunity to emphasize that hunger can be ended in our lifetime, but we must all work together to achieve this goal.
