Bejo Zaden B.V. is a company involved with the development, production and processing of vegetable seeds.  The Organic Seed Program focuses on seed production, breeding and seed treatment.  New varieties are tested on trial plots in various climatic regions and in different types of soil.  Bejo Zaden B.V. is also exploring the possibility of organic seed coatings.

Around the world there is growing recognition of the dangerous risks that the use of chemical pesticides pose. Pesticide Eco-Alternatives Center Yunnan Thoughtful Action (PEAC) was created in February 2002 to address this problem. The mission of PEAC is to reduce the use of harmful pesticides in China and to promote alternative ecological forms of pest control, and eventually protect the human health and ecological health for sustainable development.

FiBL is committed to the international development of organic agriculture through research and knowledge transfer.  Based in Switzerland, FiBL has international offices in Germany and Austria and partners with organizations around the world.  The Institute has eight research divisions: Horticultural Sciences, Entomology, Animal Health, Animal Husbandry, Food Quality and Safety, Plant Protection and Biodiversity, Socio-economics and Soil Sciences.

The Laboratory conducts research that provides new opportunities for technological development in the sustainable energy sector.  The Biosystems Division within the Laboratory studies market assisted selection in organic plant breeding and also performs basic and applied research to develop new technology with a focus on the conversion of plant biomass, especially crop residues for biofuels.

In the Section for Agriculture the focus is on research, collaboration and public representation in the areas of soil management, crop cultivation, animal husbandry and the farm organism. Knowing and working with planetary-earthly correspondences is basic to the bio-dynamic method of agriculture as practised worldwide. These experiences lead to social and economic perspectives, to insights and practical implications for market structuring and to associative activity on regional, national and international levels.

Created in 1987, Senegalese Association for the Promotion of Organic Agriculture SAPOA (ASPAB) supports and coordinates the activities of farmers on agro-ecology. Through its action on assistance, capacity building and advice, SAPOA (ASPAB) works for a rigorous respect of the norms of production of organic agriculture.

SEAE es una asociación con el propósito de aglutinar los esfuerzos de agricultores, técnicos, científicos y de otras personas, encaminados hacia el desarrollo de sistemas sustentables de producción agraria, fundamentados en los principios ecológicos y socioeconómicos promovidos por los movimientos de Agricultura Ecológica. Los fines de la sociedad son Fomentar, coordinar y facilitar la investigación, enseñanza, asesoramiento y la difusión de todos los aspectos relacionados con la Agricultura Ecológica y el Desarrollo Rural Sostenible; organizar curso y otros eventos formativos destinados a los distintos agentes del sector de la agricultura ecológica; Promover el desarrollo y mejora de las técnicas de la Agricultura Ecológica; Desarrollar la Cooperación Internacional, destinada a fomentar los fines anteriores.

CATIE is a joint endeavour between the Inter-American Institute for Agricultural Sciences and the Costa Rican Government.  Its mission is to contribute to rural poverty reduction by promoting competitive and sustainable agriculture and natural resource management through higher education, research and technical cooperation.  CAITE has more than 70 research and development project that fit into the following thematic groups: Cacao; Livestock and Environmental Management; Musa; Plant Genetic Resources; Center for Competiveness of Eco-enterprises; Agroecology; Coffee; Forests, Protected Areas and Biodiversity; Global Change; Watershed; and Socio-economics of Environmental Goods and services.

CATIE has an agroecological thematic group that works on research in organic agricultural systems. research areas are: Comparative trials of systems, biological pest control, soil quality, organic fertilizers and biodiversity. 

The work in organic production is not limited to research, but also to promotion and training, as well as an active participation in national and international organic movements to promote projects and enterprises that promote this type of activity with the other actors within the sector. 
 

The Organic Agriculture Program combines both research and teaching and is spread between four campuses.  Research is carried out by six different groups: Soils; Horticulture – Field Crops; Urban Agriculture – Livestock; Urban Agriculture – Environment; Social Justice – Marketing and Economics; and Rural Communities.
