Cooperative Research Centre for Sustainable Rice Production (Rice CRC)

Rice CRC was a research centre supported by the Australian Government and partnered with several universities and growers groups.  It was formed to address specific issues regarding the long-term future of the rice industry in Australia.  The Centre was divided into five programs: sustainability of natural resources, sustainable production systems, genetic improvement for sustainable production, product control, and education and technology transfer.  Although Rice CRC completed in 2005, the website still contains research literature including published reports, presentations, and posters.

Cornell Organic Working Group, Cornell University

The Working Group functions across departments at Cornell to increase teaching, research and extension activities in organic agriculture.  Research priorities include studies on pest and disease management; whole-of-farm systems; marketing, economics and farm business management; making the transition to organic production; plant breeding; crop and animal management; soil quality, fertility and organic matter management

Cotton Development Organisation

The Cotton Development Organisation, located in Uganda, monitors the production, processing and marketing of cotton.  The organisation promotes the distribution of high quality cotton seed and facilitates the development of the cotton industry.  While the Cotton Development Organisation does not solely focus on organic cotton production, it is a strong promoter and investor in the industry.

Countryside and Community Research Institute (CCRI)

The Countryside and Community Research Institute (CCRI) is the largest specialist rural research centre in the UK. It has expertise in all aspects of research in policy and planning for the countryside and the environment of the UK, Europe and further afield. The CCRI aims to build on existing expertise in all four institutions, strengthening regional partnerships. It intends to have a clear client-led focus in the conduct of applied research, postgraduate education, continuing professional training, knowledge exchange and consultancy. "Socio-economic aspects of local and national organic farming markets" and "Characterization of markets for organic goods" are two examples of research projects related to organic agriculture carried out by the institute.

Crop Protection Research Centre, St. Xavier’s College (Autonomous)

The Crop Protection Research Centre studies the protection of cultivatable crops from insect pests by using Bio-intensive Integrated Pest Management (BIPM).  The research focuses on the usage of natural enemies, plant and microbe-based insecticides and inter- and trap-crops in pest and disease management.

Cuu Long Delta Rice Research Institute (CLRRI)

CLRRI is a research entity of the Vietnamese Ministry of Agricultural and Rural Development.  The Institute’s main function is to carry out research on rice and implement research programs in collaboration with local and international organizations.  Its main research themes focus on genetics and plant breeding, plant protection, entomology, soil science, microbiology, water management, post-harvest technology, and agricultural economics.

Danish Institute for International Studies (DIIS)

DIIS is an independent research institution engaged in research and dissemination in international affairs.  The Institute is involved in a number of studies on agriculture.  Among these, DIIS is working on the ICROFS partnership study, GLOBAL-ORG, which analyses the institutional conditions under which certified organic agriculture develops in the South.

Debio

Debio is the inspection and certification body for organic agriculture in Norway.  There, products can  only be sold as organic when the producer is approved by Debio.  The regulations concerning organic aquaculture have been developed in cooperation with the Swedish inspection and certification body, KRAV.

El Departamento de Horticultura de la UNALM reúne a profesionales dedicados a la docencia, investigación y proyección social en el manejo y producción de cultivos hortícolas, frutales y ornamentales, tanto en campo como en invernadero y vivero. El departamento cuenta con tres programas de investigación, para cada uno de los cultivos mencionados (p.ej. Department of Agricultural Research for Northern Sweden (NVJ), Swedish University of Agricultural Science (SLU)

SLU has a mission to take responsibility for the development of biological resources and production in fields such as agriculture, forestry, and food.  The focus of the Agricultural Research for Northern Sweden Station is increasing the knowledge of different crops and harvesting techniques, and maximizing the utilization of animal feeds.  NJV also maintains a farm in Öjebyn that compares conventional versus organic dairy systems.
