The Agronomy and Crop Science section within the Department of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences has been researching crop productivity and soil fertility in different cropping systems including organic, low-input, and conventional.  These studies emphasize the use of long-term experiments to optimize the systems.

The Organic Crops Project of the Department of Agriculture conducts research on organic rice.  This webpage is only available in Thai.

DiSTA’s staff is involved in numerous collaborative efforts across various disciplines falling into six areas. The Agronomy and Crop Science Area provides statewide leadership in research, teaching, and extension in the subjects of crop production, sustainable agricultural systems and environment, soil physics, crop physiology, bioenergy and fibre crops, land management and use, applied plant ecology, weed biology, agrometeorology, agroclimatology, crop modelling, seed biology and production. "Environmental sustainability of organic farming" is one of the ongoing projects of the department.

The Department’s objective is to provide sustainable manpower to meet the growing needs in agronomy to Nigeria.  Their mandate is to reduce hunger though applied research into various indigenous agronomical problems.  Researchers in the Department are engaged in organic agriculture research.  Current studies include research on cover crops, organic soil amendments and the use of plant extracts for pest and disease control. Information about these research endeavours is not currently available on the University webpage.

The Department  deals with  the factors and technologies concerning herbaceous and tree crop production, through both the teaching and the research activities carried out by its staff. For its scientific activity the Department is structured into the  Agroecosystems Section and the  Horticultural and Tree Crop Section. The Agroecosystems Section deals with the research and teaching releated especially with general agronomy and crop science, soil physics, field crops, turfgrass and sustainable and organic agriculture.

Research at the Department of Crop Science is undertaken in all fields of crop science and also forms the backbone of graduate training in the Department. A number of staff members are leading research and training projects in the various discipline of crop science. “Towards sustainable cassava and sweet potato production in eastern Africa” is one of the major projects of the Department.

Within the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, the Plant Breeding Unit’s objective is to identify and obtain maximum benefit from agricultural genetic resources.  While researchers in the Department use both classical approaches and biotechnological approaches, there is some work being done on organic safflower, tomato and lentils. 

The Department’s mission is to acquire, integrate, and disseminate basic and applied knowledge about field crops, cropping systems, soils, agricultural watersheds and crop-related entomology.  The soil fertility research unit conducts research on environmentally sound utilization of wastes as soil amendments and developing composting technologies.

The Department of Ecological and Sustainable Production Systems belongs to the Faculty of Horticultural Science of the CORVINUS University of Budapest. The main principal of Department of Ecological and Sustainable Production Systems is education. Ecological Farming is the topic of high priority in our Department, which shows the whole scale of agriculture to horticultural engineers. Besides education research work is also important in the field of Ecological Farming. The Department issues MSc and PhD topics in ecological farming for four years.

The Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology embraces education and research on virtually all aspects of biodiversity, including the origins and history of species ranging from bacteria to humans, the processes by which this diversity has evolved, and the ecological context in which this evolution takes place. These basic sciences underlie some of the most important applied sciences in the world today, such as sustainable agriculture and natural resource management. Agroecology is one of the research areas of the Department.
