Institut Penyelidikan dan Kemajuan Pertanian Malaysia (Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institute) (MARDI)

MARDI aims to create, innovate, transfer, and apply knowledge, competencies and services to support the national food and agriculture industries of Malaysia. After releasing related papers on the topic, MARDI produced a book on organic vegetable production in Malaysia in 2005.  However, their website does not indicate current organic vegetable research. MARDI’s website is only partially available in English.

Institut Technique de L’Agriculture Biologique (ITAB)

ITAB aims to produce tools and other technical references that can be used to build innovative and sustainable systems for organic farming. The Institute also plays a facilitation role by bringing together national and international actors in research, training and development.  In the past ITAB has conducted research on the control of production of wheat farming and milling processes to yield a flour product with high nutritional density. The website is only available in French.

Institut für Biologisch-Dynamische Forschung (IBDF) (Institute for Biodynamic Research)

IBDF was founded to research solutions for biodynamic farmers and consultants. Currently, it focuses on conducting research in organic agriculture. The Institute’s main research groups focus on long-term trials and fertilization; organic plant breeding, crop diversity, seed health and organic plant protection; and the optimization of biodynamic preparations. The long-term trials group is focused on soil organic matter and crop yields and yield components with and without biodynamic preparations.

Institut für Energie und Umweltforschung (IFEU)

IFEU, an environmental research institution, focuses its agricultural research largely on agro-energy and energy flows within agricultural systems. Ongoing studies at the Institute compare liquid biofuels with conventional liquid fuels and soil biofuels with conventional fuels. Alternative energy research also examines different production sites, methods (conventional and organic farming), and applications. In addition, IFEU conducts life cycle assessments in different categories, such as food production, bio energy, renewable primary products, cultivation methods and soil profiles.
