Research Centre on Animal Production (CRPA)

CRPA has been able to provide both the private and public sector with the benefit of its experience in the fields of agricultural food production and the environment. Its objectives are the conduct of research and the establishment and management of services with the aim of promoting technical, economic and social progress in the livestock farming sector and promoting the spread of the most advanced forms of environmentally friendly agriculture. The CPRA's project "Organic farming" is aimed at the provision of useful answers to the most frequently asked questions by farmers who whish to convert their traditional farms into organic ones by setting up various zootechnical farms models with different production plans.

Research Institute of Forests and Rangelands (RIFR)

RIFR is a branch of the federal agricultural research organization of Iran.  The Institute has ten research divisions: Botany, Forest, Wood Science and Forest Products, Rangelands, Desert, Medicinal Plants and By-products, Natural Research Mechanization, Poplar and Fast Growing Trees, Biotechnology and Conservation and Protection of Forest and Rangeland.  RIFR conducts studies for the identification, conservation, restoration, exploitation and sustainable use of forest, rangelands and deserts and their products.

Research School for Organic Agriculture and Food Systems (SOAR), Faculty of Life Sciences, Copenhagen University

SOAR offers PhD courses, seminars and a network for PhD students with interest in organic agriculture and food systems. A major goal is to raise the scientific level of research within areas relevant to organic agriculture by training the students to deal with complex problems. Resource Centres on Urban Agriculture & Food Security (RUAF Foundation)

The RUAF Foundation is an international network of resource centres on urban agriculture and food security.  The Foundation provides training, technical support and policy advice to local and national governments, producer organizations, NGOs and other local stakeholders.  Its foci are on urban agriculture and poverty alleviation; urban agriculture, food security and nutrition; integration of urban agriculture in land use planning; wastewater use; mainstreaming of gender in urban agriculture; and monitoring the impacts of urban agriculture policies and programmes.

RiceIPM

Rice IPM is a joint Program by the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) and the University of Queensland.  The Program engages in research and extension and contains detailed information on a range of topics such as pest ecology, crop checking and fact sheets on insect pests and beneficials, diseases and weeds.  RiceIPM aims to provide a framework for integrating knowledge, skills and information on pest management for rice production in the tropics.

Risø DTU National Laboratory for Sustainable Energy, Technical University of Denmark

The Laboratory conducts research that provides new opportunities for technological development in the sustainable energy sector.  The Biosystems Division within the Laboratory studies market assisted selection in organic plant breeding and also performs basic and applied research to develop new technology with a focus on the conversion of plant biomass, especially crop residues for biofuels.

Rodale Institute

The Rodale Institute is a US-based non-profit organization that aims to improve the health and well-being of people and the planet through organic agriculture research and training.  Most famous for the Farming Systems Trial®, a long running comparison trial on organic and conventional farming techniques, Rodale now engages in a variety of studies that focus on yield, soil fertility, pest and disease management and opportunities to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions.

SEKEM

SEKEM is an Egyptian Initiative that works on sustainable development both locally and regionally through various institutions including those in organic agriculture research and development.  Among the products that SEKEM produces are organic food and natural pharmaceuticals made from biodynamic farming.  Within SEKEM, the Egyptian Biodynamic Association (EBDA) provides biodynamic research and extension services to farmers in Egypt.  Specific areas of research include plant nutrition, plant protection, post harvest conditions, and seed quality.
