FAO Representative acknowledges efforts of the FAO team in KP and FATA

Ms. Minà Dowlatchahi, FAO Representative (FAOR) to Pakistan visited the FAO team in Peshawar during the first week of August.

During her visit, she met the team there and appreciated it in the efforts to revitalize agriculture based livelihoods that eventually boost the local economy.

In this connection, she highlighted the achievements of the recently concluded project - “Assistance to the recovery and development of the agricultural economy in FATA” project implemented with the financial assistance of JICA.

“Successful strategies should be applied to all new interventions and implemented by adapting to local needs” FAOR said while reviewing the progress of the ongoing projects, and the impact FAO projects have on the lives of its beneficiaries.

Team members briefed her about their areas of work. She also shared developments at the strategic level including development of the next Country Programing Framework, Management Review of the Representation, OneUN Programme III. She informed the team that highest levels of professional standards, efficient functioning and responsiveness to the national needs are the highest priorities for her in Pakistan. She also advised the team to be more strategic and responsive to the emerging challenges in development of agriculture sector.

She directed the team to integrate the challenges of Zero Hunger, One Health, Resilience and Climate Change in their work with communities at all levels. She assured the team of her complete support in their work.

This was Ms. Minà Dowlatchahi’s first visit to the Peshawar office after assuming responsibilities as FAO Representative in Pakistan in May this year.
