First Ever FMD Vaccine Quality Assurance Training in Pakistan

Islamabad, 17 March 2015: FAO Project, “Progressive Control of Foot and Mouth Disease in Pakistan” has organized a training course to determine the quality of FMD vaccines. The training course is being held at the National Veterinary Laboratories (NVL) Islamabad from 17 to 28 March 2015. An international expert Dr. Can Cokaliskan, Director FMD Vaccine Quality Section, SAP Institute, Ankara Turkey will provide on-hand training that will enable FMD vaccine manufacturers to produce quality assured vaccine to better protect animals against the disease. The Inaugural Session of the training was chaired by FAO Representative Pakistan, Mr. Patrick T. Evans. In his inaugural address, Mr. Patrick appreciated the Project for organizing such an important training course which is vital to control and eradicate FMD in Pakistan. During the session, FAO Project Coordinator Dr. Muhammad Afzal highlighted the significance of the training course for the prevention and control of FMD in the country. The Animal Health Advisor USDA, Dr. Jack Mortenson and Animal Husbandry Commissioner/DG NVL Dr. Qurban Ali also graced the occasion.
