Deputy FAO Representative joins the team in Islamabad

Mr Farrukh Toirov joined the FAO Pakistan team in April as the Deputy FAO Representative in Pakistan.

Born in January 1977 in Tajikistan, he holds a Post Graduate Diploma in International Economic Relations and a Master’s Degree in Social Research and Demography (MA). He has close to 20 years of experience working in the humanitarian and development contexts with FAO, other UN, NGOs, World Bank and private sector in Tajikistan.

He joined FAO in 2006 as a National Program Assistant in Tajikistan. He worked until 2012 as Emergency Coordinator in Chechnya and in Kyrgyzstan. In the period 2012-2013 Mr Toirov worked for World Bank as Country Officer and with private sector back in Tajikistan. In 2014 he was back in FAO for one year as Operations Officer in Somalia, and has since then been the Emergency Coordinator in Ukraine until end March 2017.

Food security, emergency preparedness, poverty reduction, self-employment, agricultural value chains, promotion of small and medium scale farming have been the programmatic areas he has worked on.

Mr Toirov is a Tajikistan national.
