Dr José Graziano da Silva, DG. FAO condemns the tragic loss of lives in the Peshawar school attack

In his message to H.E. Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Dr José Graziano da Silva, Director General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has stated that “It is with profound dismay that I have learned of the tragic loss of so many innocent lives in the Peshawar school attack on Wednesday 16 December 2014. I join the Secretary-General in condemning all attacks that deliberately target defenseless children.

In the name of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), please accept our deepest condolences for the families suffering from this tragedy and for the people of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan”.
A moment of silence was observed by FAO staff to show solidarity with the young children who lost their precious lives, their parents who suffered at the hands of inhuman act and the people of Pakistan. The staff wore black arm bands to express solidarity with the victim families. FAO Representative to Pakistan Mr. Patrick T. Evans said that “our hearts go out to the parents and families who have lost loved ones.” Patrick also quoted the local newspapers that have declared this as our darkest hour.
