Looking back over the past four years of their successful partnership, FAO and Cirad are honoring this occasion through the co-publication of the Highlights of the FAO-Cirad partnership. This E-booklet underscores the principles, vision and goals of the partnership that has fostered the successful collaborations on themes such as agroecology, animal health, family farming and climate change. FAO and Cirad look forward to the next phase of partnership with a view of making even greater impact at national, regional and global levels to foster the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.

The Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Development in Agriculture (RUFORUM) has launched an initiative on “Community-based Field Attachments” to provide opportunities for postgraduate and doctoral students in agriculture sciences to increase experience of working with local communities in Africa. On 2 November 2017 the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and the University of Lisbon signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen collaboration on improving food security and nutrition in Portugal and in the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP).  The MoU was signed by the Head of FAO Information Office for Portugal and CPLP, Francisco Sarmento, and the Rector of the University of Lisbon, António Cruz Serra. Partnerships continue to expand the visibility and impact of Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in the Russian Federation. The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between FAO and Russian State Agrarian University - Moscow Timiryazev Agricultural Academy marked a major step in achieving synergic effect of promoting FAO agenda in the country through active engagement with its leading academic institutions.
