As part of a short series of publications highlighting some of FAO’s work with civil society organizations (CSOs), the FAO Partnerships and UN Collaboration Division is happy to present its most recent partnership brief on FAO’s partnership with Consumers International.

Consumers International is a membership organization for consumer groups, bringing over 200 member organizations from over 100 countries with the aim to empower and champion the rights of consumers everywhere.  Its work covers the most important consumer concerns across areas including food, energy, mobility, finance, the online marketplace, and sustainable consumption.

FAO and Consumers International have a longstanding relationship, having signed their first Memorandum of Understanding in 2017.  Together, the partners have combined their capacities and networks in support of the realizing the right to adequate food and sustainable consumption around the world.  The strategic alliance with Consumers International has provided FAO with important insight into consumers and consumer advocacy groups, major stakeholders in agrifood systems.  This brief provides some key facts and results from the activities undertaken in recent years, particularly in support of the right to food.
