Digitally Enabled Development for a Sustainable Future in Eastern Europe
18/09/2019 - 20/09/2019
Vrdnik, Serbia
Digital technologies are profoundly changing our societies. They act as a catalyst for development and, if harnessed, can help reverse negative trends in the Eastern European region. Still, good practices are fragmented, and rooted to a particular, often local, context which does not permit the region to fully benefit from the multitude of opportunities.
Against this background, this conference brings together a variety of stakeholders representing the public sector, civil society, academia and business, in order to exchange good practices, establish partnerships, and ultimately, to learn from each other. The following aspects will be given particular emphasis, considering their cross-cutting nature:
- technological enablers of digital transformation;
- digital data;
- good tenure governance;
- innovative services and applications combining the above.
As the phenomenon of digital transformation is very broad, the conference will focus on the following domains: regional and spatial planning, next generation farming, smart cities and governance of land tenure.
The conference is jointly organised by the Serbian Republic Geodetic Authority, the European Commission's Joint Research Centre, the World Bank, the United Nations Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information Management in Europe, the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, and FAO.
