Call for Public Review - Guidelines for environmental quantification of nutrient flows and impact assessment in livestock supply chains

30/11/2017

The LEAP Secretariat calls scientific communities and individual experts on livestock and nutrients modelling, LCA, environmental footprinting and environmental assessment to participate in the review of the draft guidelines for environmental quantification of nutrient flows and impact assessment for livestock supply chains. This draft is developed by the Technical Advisory Group on nutrients (Nutrient TAG) of the LEAP Partnership. The Nutrient TAG is composed of 43 experts from academia, government agencies, the private sector, NGOs and CSOs. The content of the guidelines reflects the consensus achieved by the Nutrient TAG through two face-to-face meetings, online discussions, internal reviews and peer-review. This draft provides a comprehensive and detailed guidance on how to quantify the nitrogen (N), and phosphorus (P) flows and associated potential impacts such as eutrophication and acidification along livestock supply chains. This document is part of a suite of guidelines t developed by LEAP Partnership to estimate the environmental performance of livestock supply chains and to shape evidence-based policy measures and business strategies.

LEAP Partnership supports and is committed to the transparency of the review process. From 30 November 2017 to 28 February 2018, comments can be sent to LEAP Partnership secretariat: [email protected]. The template for comments can be downloaded here.
