FAO and the Pan-African Parliament launch capacity reinforcement initiative for legislators
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the Pan-African Parliament have launched a partnership to improve legislation of food and nutrition security issues in Africa. The two -year project aims at enhancing the technical capacities of the Pan-African Parliament and the Pan-African Parliamentary Alliance on Food Security and Nutrition (PAPA-FSN). High-level delegates from Kenya spent one week in Malaysia meeting their peers to discuss how to turn food security and nutrition policy into action
Rome/Kuala Lumpur, 10 October 2017. An eight-member Kenyan delegation, led by James Wachiuri Wanjohi, Technical Advisor to the Principal Secretary/State Department of Agriculture, spent one week in Malaysia learning how decentralized mechanisms can help turn national food security and nutrition policy into action.

Soutenir la subsistance des populations en Afrique francophone
En vue des contributions précieuses et largement reconnues de l’Université de Liège (ULiège) dans la recherche scientifique et dans l’éducation, et en particulier dans les domaines touchant aux missions de la FAO, les deux institutions ont convenu d’officialiser un partenariat par le biais d’un Mémorandum d’Accord. Ce mémorandum s’accompagne d’un programme de travail sur trois ans, qui propose un cadre de coopération et qui vise généralement à soutenir la subsistance des populations en Afrique francophone.

A High-level delegation from Kenya visits Indonesia to learn about its decentralized governance structure facilitated by FAO South-South Cooperation.
An eight member Kenyan delegation led by Muo Hamisi Williams, the Technical Advisor to the Cabinet Secretary participated in a one-week study tour to Indonesia to learn about the country’s experience, best practices and lessons learnt from Food Security and Nutrition policy planning and implementation within a decentralized governance system.

Elles feront front commun pour améliorer la sécurité alimentaire et la nutrition dans le monde à l’heure des changements climatiques
À l’occasion du Colloque international sur la sécurité alimentaire et la nutrition, et à l’heure des changements climatiques, l’Organisation des Nations Unies pour l’alimentation et l’agriculture (FAO) et l’Université Laval (UL) ont convenu de collaborer plus étroitement et conclu dans cet esprit un partenariat renouvelable de trois ans. Un protocole d’entente et un programme de travail orienteront le partenariat vers son objectif : favoriser le partage interinstitutionnel de connaissances pour améliorer la sécurité alimentaire et la nutrition par la lutte contre les changements climatiques et l’adaptation à leur évolution.
