Non-state actors meet at FAO to discuss upcoming Second International Nutrition Conference (ICN2) with government representatives
20 June 2014, Rome - Civil society, private sector and academia representatives met today at FAO headquarters in Rome with government representatives from the Organization’s member states to discuss the Second International Conference on Nutrition (ICN2), which will be jointly organized by FAO and the World Health Organization (WHO) in November 2014.
The informal meeting was initiated by FAO following a request by member countries to involve non-state actors in the ICN2 process.

Intensified cooperation to strengthen water and food security

FAO and ActionAid International explore cooperation on family farming and sustainable agriculture
June 12, 2014, Rome – FAO Director-General José Graziano da Silva, today metActionAid International Chief Executive Director, Adriano Campolina, to discuss potential areas of cooperation, including the promotion of family farming and the development of sustainable agriculture.

FAO Director-General says upcoming hunger and nutrition events in Italy of "paramount importance" in tackling urgent challenges
Next year's EXPO Milano 2015, with its food security-oriented theme, and an international nutrition conference coming up in Rome in November, will be "emblematic efforts that help to shape the sustainable future we want," FAO Director-General José Graziano da Silva said.
Speaking at a round-table discussion linked to EXPO 2015, Graziano da Silva said, "We need to act now, forcefully, to reach a world in which there is no over- or under-nutrition."
