FAO and Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU) signed a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to provide a framework for cooperation in areas of common interest with a focus, on knowledge and expertise sharing, and development of institutional capacities and technical competencie to support social and economic advancement of countries across Europe and Asia.

Improving food security and nutrition is critical to meeting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), but the world is not on track to end hunger and malnutrition by 2030. All actors must accelerate progress in transforming agri-food systems to meet the needs of the hungry and malnourished.

Kyoto University and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) collaborated to organize the International Symposium on Food and Sustainability, which was held in Kyoto on 29-30 October.
The Symposium gathered academia, food service sector, private sector and other stakeholders to discuss key issues related to food sustainability with a focus on food waste reduction.
At the Symposium FAO was represented by Charles Boliko, Director of FAO’s Liaison Office in Japan, Ruhiza Boroto, Senior Land and Water Officer (CBL), and Rosa Rolle, Senior Food Systems Officer (ESN), who all contributed with presentations to the debates.
