24-09-2021 —The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China (MARA) jointly convened a high-level round table meeting on “South-South and triangular Cooperation (SSTC) for Sustainable Aquaculture Development” during the 4th Global Conference on Aquaculture. More than 60 participants, including ministerial representatives of agricultural and fishery departments, diplomatic envoys to China, and representatives of international organizations attended the roundtable meeting to discuss how to promote SSTC for sustainable aquaculture development.

Caribbean Regional Dialogue on Access to Climate and Environmental Finance
22 September 2021 - A regional policy dialogue was organized virtually for CARICOM countries to improve their capacity in accessing multilateral funds for the implementation of measures for adaptation to climate change and resilience-building using the South-South and Triangular Cooperation (SSTC) mechanism.
Thanks to this dialogue, the participating countries will be able to improve their capacities in designing and negotiating projects to be presented to the Green Climate Fund (GCF), the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and other financing sources, to allow them to address global shocks, such as climate change and the COVID-19 pandemic.

Following a successful collaboration, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and The Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke) have renewed their partnership for another three years. This partnership will continue to strengthen the capacities in sustainable and integrated management of natural resources, exchange knowledge and expertise on monitoring progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Cooperation will expand to also include advocacy and raising awareness activities in the areas of climate change adaptation and mitigation.

Against a backdrop of conflicts and crises around the world, FAO and EU managers met to cement their alliance on humanitarian issues. Taking part in the discussions were the Director of the FAO Office for Emergencies and Resilience Rein Paulsen, the Director of FAO’s Liaison Office in Brussels Raschad Al-Khafaji, and, both EU Directors in charge of European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (DG ECHO), Andrea Koulaimah and Andreas Papaconstantinou.
