Japan is stepping up funding for FAO in three key areas, Vice-Minister for International Affairs at the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) Makoto Osawa told Director-General QU Dongyu, as the two officials met virtually today. Osawa went on to list the strengthening of agricultural supply chains in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic; the promotion of traditional healthy diets; and statistical capacity.

AO Director for Emergencies and Resilience, Dominique Burgeon and FAO Brussels Director Rodrigo de Lapuerta met with Belgian Director for Humanitarian Aid Transition, Erik de Maeyer and his team. Together, they reviewed the strong cooperation between the Kingdom of Belgium and FAO including Belgium’s support to anticipatory action, through the FAO Special Fund for Emergency Activities (SFERA) and the joint response to COVID-19 impacts and to the desert locust outbreak.

FAO hosted the virtual Resource Partner Strategic Dialogue of the Flexible Multi-Partner Mechanism (FMM) on 27 November 2020. All eight contributing FMM Resource Partners were represented at the meeting, including: Belgium, Flanders, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and Switzerland.

L'Organisation des Nations Unies pour l'alimentation et l'agriculture (FAO) s'est félicitée que le Conseil du Fonds pour l'environnement mondial (FEM) ait approuvé récemment 13 projets qu'elle mènera dans 16 pays, pour un montant total d'environ 78,5 millions d'USD. Cette décision, qui a été prise lors de la cinquante-neuvième réunion du Conseil du FEM, fait suite à celle de juin 2020 qui entérinait des versements de 176 millions d'USD au profit de projets menés par la FAO.
