On 9 December 2021, the Flexible Multi-Partner Mechanism (FMM) launched FAO’s first-ever digital field trip targeted towards FMM Resource Partners - Belgium, Flanders, France, Italy, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden and Switzerland. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) today welcomed approval from the Global Environment Facility (GEF) for four FAO-led projects in eight countries, totalling more than $13.6 million in funding. Small Island Developing States (SIDS) include some of the world’s most remote countries that share a similar set of challenges, including susceptibility to natural disasters, limited resources and dependence on international trade, in addition to a common aspiration for sustainable development, improved living standards and the remediation of gender inequalities. The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) announced an ambitious new five-year Strategic Joint Cooperation Agreement with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) on Tuesday. The agreement commits the partners to scale up joint action to meet humanitarian needs, address drivers of acute food security, and help at-risk agricultural communities build resilience to shocks that undermine their productive potential.
