As the world grapples with increasingly complex challenges, South-South and Triangular Cooperation (SSTC) is gaining in recognition as a valid mechanism for equitable global development. This is a perspective shared by the Rwanda Cooperation Initiative (RCI) and three Rome-Based Agencies (RBAs) of the United Nations - the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), and the World Food Programme (WFP).

Recent global challenges caused by disruptions in the food supply chain have exposed the fragility of global food security and agrifood systems. Resourcing innovative ideas, in collaboration with global multistakeholders, is becoming increasingly important to ensure sustainable agrifood systems and food safety for all.

Gilberto Silva, Minister for Agriculture and Environment of Cabo Verde, to discuss the upcoming launch of the FAO-China South-South Cooperation (SSC) project in support of Agricultural Production Systems to Enhance Food Security and Nutrition in the Republic of Cabo Verde, and future developments.
