New York, 19 November 2020 - A thematic good practices publication: “Good Practices in South-South and Triangular Cooperation in the Context of Food Security”, developed jointly by the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC) and the Brazil Africa Institute (IBRAF) was successfully launched at a virtual event on 19 November 2020. This year marks the 75th anniversary of the creation of the United Nations and what better way to showcase South-South and Triangular cooperation achievements, than with a compilation of good practices on how SSTC is being leveraged to support the efforts of countries to accelerate the progress towards the attainment of 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

On 16 September, the United Nations Rome-based agencies − the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), IFAD and the World Food Programme (WFP) − celebrated the 2020 UN Day for South-South Cooperation with a virtual event hosted by IFAD.

22 September 2020, Rome - FAO welcomed an announcement today by Xi Jinping, President of the People's Republic of China, that his country will support the UN agency's South-South Cooperation (SSC) efforts with an additional $50 million in funding.
"We are very grateful for this new $50 million contribution announced by President Xi, as it provides a strong boost to the work of the FAO-China South-South Cooperation Programme," FAO Director-General QU Dongyu said.
